The Ndege Aerobatic course is primarily designed to make you a safer and more aware aviator.
Our aerobatics course, will not only put the F for fun back into your Flying but it will increase your awareness, skills, and aircraft handling to a level you may have previously thought unobtainable.
I’m sure you’re aware of the expression, “making a mountain out of a mole hill”. This is unfortunately often the case with people’s perception of aerobatics. So put all that to one side and come and discover the ultimate thrill, the art of aerobatics, with us!
|
The Course
You will be flying with our highly experienced instructors. We will refresh all those basic handling skills such as recoveries from unusual attitudes, slow flight, stalling, practice forced landings and more, that may have become a little ‘rusty’.
We quickly move on to basic aeros and, most importantly, recoveries from those that don’t work as expected! Spin entries and recoveries will be covered in depth.
We suggest following the AOPA Basic Aerobatic Syllabus. The syllabus includes spins and spiral avoidance and recovery. Loops, barrel rolls, aileron rolls, stall turns, Cubans, half Cubans, and reverse half Cubans. But, we can also offer tailor-made courses to suit individual requirements, if required.
Our sorties are kept short. Typically 30 to 45 minutes so you’ll remain fresh and not become overloaded. We include solid pre- and post-flight briefings with each sortie flown.
|
How many hours are necessary?
The minimum hours for the basic aerobatics course leading to the AOPA certificate is normally 8 hours of dual training, plus the ‘test’. Don’t panic! However, the purpose of all flying training is to get the student to a certain, safe standard. This may take longer, or, it may take less, and will be at the discretion of the instructor. However long you take, its not a race, there are no prizes, your safety is our objective.
|
Do I have to complete the whole course?
Very simply, no, not if you don’t want to. But be warned, most people land after their first sortie with a huge grin, and eagerly anticipate the next!
|
Can I do more?
As they say, “the sky’s the limit”! Absolutely. We can show you flick rolls, clover leafs, and precision spinning. The combination of manoeuvres are virtually endless.
|
Will I feel sick?
Almost certainly not. Most people are anxious when they begin the course and may feel a little queasy. This is why we keep our sortie lengths short. Anxiety levels will decrease as competency, confidences, and ‘G’ tolerances all increase.
|
Who can learn?
Anyone. There are no pre – requisites other than normal health.
|
Is it dangerous?
Definitely not. As said previously, the primary objectives of the course are to make you a safer and more aware aviator. We are teaching basic, recreational aerobatics. Not, low level or display aerobatics. The idea is that it is fun. You are not supposed to scare yourself, or worse. For these two reasons, we perform all training above a pre briefed minimum “base” height. Both pilots will also bee fully kitted out in Nomex flying suits and parachutes. (Don’t worry, you’ll have a parachute briefing as part of your first lesson!). Just bring a pair of trainers and a T-shirt.
|
What will I be flying?
You will be flying one of Ndege’s Fuji, FA200 – 180’s. She is a two place (for aerobatics) low wing monoplane of military origin. With a bubble style canopy with over head windows, (a necessity when green is up!), stressed for an operational +6G -3G manoeuvring, and the ever reliable 180 horse Lycoming up front, she makes for the perfect entry level aerobatic mount.
|
How much will it cost?
We charge $295 per hour; an hour is from engine start to engine stop. There are no extras to pay.
